Andy Maitland, British iPad artist, 2022

I like to draw - thinking and observing. It's now over a decade, of the daily making of figurative drawings out in the landscape, face to face with my subject, since I started making digital drawings exclusively on the iPad in 2011. Drawing and the English landscape in Surrey, UK, where I live, have been my subject and the main focus of my work since 2012.

'to know is nothing at all, to imagine is everything' -Anatole France.

Excerpt from An Imagined Garden One.

I (usually) exhibit regularly. I like to collaborate on public and private projects, I'm open to project commissions and I talk about developing creative process on invitation. I also host a small number of talks and workshops for schools educational initiatives on invitation.

I have enjoyed working with some fantastic people at the V&A, Apple, London Heathrow Airport, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), UK Research and Innovation (UKRI, a part of the UK government), the National Health Service (NHS), The Hurlingham Club and at schools (Ibstock Place, Frensham Heights and The Royal Alexandra and Albert School to highlight just three of these). Some of this work can be seen in the video bio (link below).

My latest work and second publication (published in 2023) is 'An Imagined Garden One, iPad drawings from figurative to abstraction 2011-22'.
